Things you want to know about your wedding/event designer.  I know…there are a lot of words, but you are going to want to read them!!!!

Why should I choose you to be my event/wedding designer?

First and foremost you should choose me because when we meet we connect.  I believe that there is the right event designer out there for every bride, but I don’t believe that every event designer is right for every bride.  This is your special day.  The person you choose to design and coordinate it for you should be the person who can most clearly translate you visions and desires into a real and tangible day!  Finally you are the bride who wants to have your family and friends go home and tell everyone about the marvelous wedding they went to.  You are the host who never wants to pick up a magazine and see a wedding just like yours, attend another wedding that looks just like yours, or hear about another party that is anything like yours.  If you see photos like yours in a magazine…well you want them to be your photos. *Smile* When I tell you that I have done something for you, and only you, you can be assured that all aspects of your special day are yours!!  Last…I don’t believe any job is too small.  As a business owner I will do my best to meet your needs whether it be through full event design, day of coordination, or bits and pieces put together to help you have the perfect day.  Make sure to review the Packages we offer.

How did you become an event/wedding designer?

In 1999 following my dreams I left my home on the west coast and headed to New York City, seeking the lights of Broadway!  I had no idea what I was going to do once I got there, but I knew I had to follow my dreams.  Thankfully after only a couple of weeks I connected with a childhood friend and joined her in the world of event design at Tobak Dantchik Events and Promotions.  While completing a Masters degree in Theater Arts at New York University, I spent many late nights assisting in the coordination of Broadway events, including opening and closing parties for such productions as Producers, Wicked, Hairspray, and Cats to name a few.  For five years I watched and learned from the experts how to craft, organize, and host the perfect event.

What makes Events by Mackie unique?

Many event/wedding designers will answer this question by talking about their creativity, their attention to detail, and their dedication.  In the world of event design these should not be attributes that make you unique!  I think of myself as an event artist, crafting, painting, and creating new and wonderful experiences.  I stand out as an event artist because of my experience in event design and coordination, my background in theater, and how I use both of those things to create your special day. I love to use very theatrical design elements such as fabrics, lights, unusual and unique florals, and clean lines.  I am not a frilly, doily designer, I tend to lean away from vintage, and although I appreciate traditional wedding vows and family histories…I would rather create new traditions and modern history for my clients.

So if your background is not in weddings, then why weddings?

When I first relocated to Maine in 2009 I decided to start my own event design firm with the notion that I would focus on corporate professional events, and maybe a personal event here and there.  As I began researching event designers and did my homework regarding trends I found that although there are a lot of event and wedding designers in Maine, very few have the experience or the design concepts I have.   I also saw a need, a need for wedding designers who were ready to move past doilies and hydrangeas to create their own “footprint” on wedding history.   Although there is nothing wrong with doilies and hydrangeas, I see far too many of them, and have even designed some weddings that included them, but my dream is to create “one of a kind” experiences, with spectacular and memorable design.
